Dr Peter Coolbear is the foundation director of Ako Aotearoa, the National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence. Originally teacher and researcher in plant science in both the UK and at the Seed Technology Centre in Massey University, he has held a series of management positions in the New Zealand polytechnic sector, most recently as Deputy Chief Executive at Manukau Institute of Technology. He is a board member of NZCER, a trustee of the City of Manakau Education Trust, and also serves on the Professional Development Steering Group for the ACE sector.
