Steve Hanrahan is Chief Executive, Hospitality Standards Institute.

Steve has a strong background in the hospitality and education industries. The early part of his hospitality career specialised in food and beverage management with international hotels in New Zealand, Fiji and England. He also spent time in small business management prior to joining the ITO.

Steve joined HSI in 1998 as a Training Advisor for the South Island. He then progressed on to National Operations Manager before being appointed as Chief Executive in 2003.

Steve holds a Diploma in Hotel and Catering Administration, plus is also a graduate of the Melbourne Business School’s Advanced Management Programme.  Steve sits on several advisory bodies including the Board of ITPQ (Institutes of Technology & Polytechnics Quality Board), the Tourism & Hospitality Leadership Group, and the Rugby World Cup Hospitality Steering Group.
